Jamie Blaine, Blog Editor
James G. Blaine is a writer, teacher and consultant to non-profit organizations, whose work has focused primarily on social and environmental issues.
He founded and published The Kennett Paper, which was named Pennsylvania’s weekly Newspaper of the Year in 1997, 1998 & 1999; and he subsequently published eight weeklies in southeastern Pa.
Jamie has taught at a variety of levels ranging from elementary school to university, including teaching severely autistic adolescents, starting an inner-city after-school program, and serving as director of education for an organization devoted to freshwater issues.
He has worked with urban development groups for both the Ford Foundation and the Local Initiative Support Corp., run an environmental/community development organization in Chester County, and managed a cattle farm in South America.
Jamie served three years in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant.
He holds a BA from Harvard College and an MA and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. He ran unsuccessfully for Congress from Pa.’s 16th District in 1996.
