Q: What guitar amp should I get for my Ibanez Acoustic Electric?
I had a regular acoustic before so I never needed an amp.
But then I upgraded and got an Ibanez that is an acoustic electric.
Although I love playing acoustic by its self, I would like to try out with it an amp.
So what watt should I get?
Recommended brand?
I prefer cheap though cause I mean really who doesn’t.
Also, what is a distortion pedal?
Do I need one?
Thanks very much.
A: For an electro-acoustic, I would recommend a keyboard amp or a PA system rather than a guitar amp. This is because keyboard amps and PAs are designed to faithfully reproduce sounds without coloration whereas guitar amps add their own character.
In terms of watts, you don’t say whether you are performing on stage or just want to play in your bedroom for fun. For bedroom use, something liike this 20w Peavey KB-1 would be fine.

If you are performing live, you would probably need more like 100w. Depending on your budget, you could look at keyboard amps by Peavey, Laney or Behringer. These manufacturers are at the cheaper end of the scale, but are still reasonable quality.
You can plug your guitar into a distortion pedal (or multi-effects pedal) which then plugs into your amp. The pedal is usually used to add various degrees of distortion to the sound of your guitar – think rock or metal – but in the case of the multi-effects pedal, can also add more subtle effects such as reverb chorus or echo. Some also have a built in drum machine to play along with which is quite useful.
My daughter has an Ibanez electro acoustic and it really takes people by surprise when they hear rock tones coming from it (played through a Digitech RP355 multi-effects pedal).
Do you need one? No you don’t. But a multi-effects pedal is fun if you want to explore a variety of tones and genres of music.
Q: Can I hook up my acoustic/ electric ibanez guitar to an amp and use distortion?
A: i have done it with mild settings to get sweet blues tones. I have seen Kim Deal run her acoustic through distortion live. a lot of what makes an electric guitars tone is the pickup itself. so ultimately you can get cool sounds, but never anything like what you are trying to emulate.
also, feedback on acoustic guitars is insane. the whole thing starts vibrating out of control.
Q: Is it ok to play an acoustic-electric guitar without an amp?
I have an Ibanez Acoustic-Electric guitar.. I used to have a Fender acoustic guitar but i didn’t like the sound of it at all.
so now that i have switched hastily, i realzied, crap, no amp. Is it ok to play an acoustic-electric guitar without an amp? and can i use the same tuner i did for my acoustic guitar?
A: technically you have answered your own question. an acoustic guitar doesnt need an amp, an electric does. if you have an acoustic-electric guitar, you have the option of using an amp or not. so the real question is….did you use an amp for your old acoustic guitar?!?
a guitar tuner can be used with any guitar.
by the way, wrong category
Q: how do i sound like bullet for my valentine? ive got an electric ibanez guitar and an acoustic amp?
A: an acoustic amp…
Your gunna need a new amp.
Or your gunna need a distortion or overdrive pedal
And boost the front end with an eq pedal
Q: Need help buying Acoustic Guitar Amp?
Ok folks heres my problem:
I am not at all knowledgeable about Guitar Amps in general, and I have just got a new acoustic guitar (Ibanez A200 ETG). I went to Guitar Center and a staff worker there recommended that I get the Acoustic AG60 Acoustic Amp. Here’s the link: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Acoustic-AG60-60W-2×8-Acoustic-Guitar-Combo-Amp-104839105-i1425485.gc
That runs me $300, which I am fine with but here’s the question: Am I getting the best bang for my buck? I want the best sounding acoustic guitar amp and I have a price range of anything preferably 400 dollars or under.
Here are my requirements for the Amp:
Must be somewhat powerful (I play in a band where there is also a drummer, and I need to be heard)
Must be around or under $400 (Said this before but I cannot spend too much on my first acoustic amp)
Must have instrument input (1/4) and also a Microphone input (XLR) (I sing as well as play guitar)
I need help with this before New Years Eve because I plan to buy it Tuesday, and I have to have some time to practice before my New Years Eve Party Gig.
A: I just ran my martin through the P.A. system via a direct box and fed it through the monitors so I could here it. It worked great, nice full sound. I Never amplified it unless I was playing a gig so I never needed a acoustic guitar amp. Actually you don’t see many acoustic guitar amps being used because most guys prefer to run through the P.A..

A: Yes you can play it as an acoustic also. The name says what it is – and acoustic guitar with an added pickup system.
In a few cases, these guitars may give a little less acoustic volume than a dedicated acoustic guitar – this depends upon the type of guitar. Some acoustic/electric guitars comes closer to an electric guitar with some acoustic properties also.
You can tune this guitar like you did with your previous acoustic. Also, you can take a guitar cable from the jack out on the guitar and plug that into the tuner (if this has a guitar input) and tune it that way.
Q: Can an acoustic/electric guitar connect to any amp?
Just bought a Fender acoustic/electric guitar. I have an Ibanez amp that i used for an electric guitar. Can i use that amp for my Fender?
A: yes, it won’t sound at true as an acoustic amp which has much less distortion but you can use it.
Q: Can you plug an acoustic guitar into a bass amp?
I recently got a Ibanez Acoustic guitar with a built in plug in for an amp. Would it be harmful to the guitar to use a bass amp on it?
A: It can’t hurt the guitar.
Who knows what it will sound like. Maybe with a lot of EQ it’ll sound OK.
Maybe you’ll start a trend?
Q: What is a good affordable amp for an acoustic/electric guitar?
I have decided on an Ibanez acoustic/electric guitar and need to know what kind of amp I need to purchase?
A: Get a brand name amp like Fender or Marshall. The Fender Frontman range looks quite good.
Q: why does my amp/guitar only produce acoustic sound?
i plug my guitar (ibanez) into the amp (marshall) like every day, and it won’t turn on the distortion.
no matter what i do, it’s only play the acoustic clean sound, and i cant change it.
what do i do
A: turn the gain to 10 then start turning the volume up….
Q: Will an amp for an electric guitar hurt an acoustic/electric guitar?
hey ive got a 12 string ibanez acoustic electric guitar and im looking at amps. will an amp built for an electric hurt it or is the difference between the two amp types just what kind of setting each has?
A: won’t do any damage, but it won’t sound too good with a 12-string, and do NOT turn up the gain.
Q: Does a Ibanez V70CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar sound good?
Ibanez V70CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar, how does it sound without a amp. Will you still hear it? Does it sound good? What do you rate it? Will I be happy if I buy it?
A: guitarczar is right – you need to go to a music store and play it and hear it for yourself. It’s irrelevant how someone else might like it.
While you’re there, try a Taylor 214ce or 314ce for comparison. They’re more expensive but worth every penny. Good luck.
Q: do i have to have an acoustic amp for an acoustic electric guitar?
because i am thinking about an ibanez acoustic-electric and i already have a crate 65 watt amp so can i just plug it in to the crate amp?
A: You can, but people buy acoustic amps because you can turn them up as loud as you want without having to worry about distortion. It’ll work for you either way, so try an acoustic amp out and go with the sound you want.
Q: If I buy an Acoustic/Electric guitar will I be able to use it on my old amp?
Alright, so. I have been playing guitar for 2-3 years and I’m planning to buy an Acoustic/Electric I have a regular acoustic guitar, and an electric guitar so far. I’m also planning on being in the worship band at my church. The amp i use for my electric is just for messin around by myself at home.

Now I’ve been looking at guitars to buy online before going down to the store and tryin them out. One that has caught my eye is here.
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Ibanez-AEF18ETWS-Cutaway-Acoustic-Electric-Guitar-512212-i1147598.gc?mode=1
My question for you (since i havent had any experience with acou/elecs) is can I use that guitar on my old amp.
A: Yes you can.
When you buy a Acoustic/Electric guitar it is pretty much the same whe it comes to connecting to an amp. Wack the jacks in the right place and you can rock all night
Q: My Electric-Acoustic Guitar won’t play on an Amp?
I have an Ibanez AEG10E Electro-Acoustic with a Fishman onboard tuner and pickup for 2months. I tried to play it on an amp for the first time and it is not working. The onboard tuner works and the phase button works. We checked if it was the jack that connects the guitar and amp, but it worked for my friends electric guitar. The batteries are working in it. I’m not sure what it could be, maybe loose wires? I couldn’t find anything online.
A: It sounds like a wire may have come loose, which is a pretty easy fix. If you bought the guitar at a store, the guitar tech should fix it at no charge, since you’ve only had the guitar for two months. Even if the guitar isn’t under warranty, the repair should cost less than $30 (probably quite a bit less) if it’s a matter of solder coming loose from a wire.
