Joe Paterno update: give him a raise
Nov 30th, 2007 by dani_k
On Thursday, the State Employees Retirement System revealed Joe Paterno’s salary: $512,664 according to the Patriot News, and after taking a look at what some other coaches make, he is an absolute bargain whose contributions to the school are numerous. Paterno seems to take a pretty low-key stance to all this - and said, “I make more money than what’s going to come out.” Today, the Patriot is calling for Penn State to give the man a raise.
In the comments section of the news story, it looks like lots of PN readers are angry at the paper for desecrating Joe Paterno. What a lot of people don’t seem to realize is that it’s not really about him; it’s about a state-related University which takes your tax money yet thinks it should be exempt from open-record laws.
He needs a raise. He’s living in poverty compared to other coaches in the big ten.
