Open records on the table after Thanksgiving?
Nov 21st, 2007 by dani_k
The bad news is that the Legislature left for Thanksgiving before overhauling HB 443.
The good news is that it looks like “both parties are abandoning a previous open records proposal (HB 443) that was criticized by good-government groups because it contained broad exceptions,” according to the Herald-Standard.
So what’s going on? There’s a new bill in town…with main sponsors Rep. Tim Mahoney, Rep. Josh Shaprio, and Rep. Glenn Grell (the lone Republican in the bunch) collaborating to craft a new piece of legislature which goes even farther than the Senate version. It includes the Legislature! The House officially has adjourned for their Thanksgiving recess, but the bill is expected to be introduced today.
We have to wait and see if this new bill will work. Hopefully it won’t turn out as badly as this deep-fried turkey. On that note, have a happy and safe Thanksgiving.
